Attention horse lovers, weekend cowboys, Territory stockhorses, and anyone currently being bossed around by a horse — entries are now open for the 2026 Katherine Show Equestrian Section!

It's time to drag the saddle out of the shed, shake the dust off your best show shirt, and remind your horse that the Katherine Show is a sporting event, not an opportunity to test your patience in front of a crowd.

Whether you're a seasoned competitor or simply hoping to stay aboard for the entire event, we'd love to see you in the ring. The 2026 program promises plenty of action, great competition, and the usual Territory mix of determination, dust, and good humour.

As always, competitors are encouraged to begin training early. This includes important show preparations such as:

• Catching your horse before sunrise.
• Teaching your horse that white rails are not terrifying predators.
• Convincing your horse that standing still for five seconds won't cause permanent emotional damage.

The Katherine Show Equestrian Section is one of the Territory's favourite horse events, bringing together riders from across the region for a weekend of friendly competition and country camaraderie.

So get those entries in, start practising your best "everything is under control" face, and prepare for another fantastic Katherine Show.
