The Katherine Times first issue was published on June 16, 1983. The first 'proper' tabloid newspaper commenced its existence as a 16 page weekly. The publication was well received and a real sought-after medium for news, view and entertainment in the Katherine and greater outlying area. The Katherine Times is now sold throughout the Northern Territory. Owners Vince and Jill Fardone and staff are very proud of this publication, which has won several awards. The owners have lived in Katherine since 1972. Prior to the devastating 1998 Australia Day Floods the Times was running an average of 40 pages with a regular 48 pager from time to time. The biggest issue of the Katherine Times was 72 pages. |
